Hi! I'm Ms. Shavanna Tappin, and I'm so excited to be part of your child's healthcare journey!
A little about me, I earned my Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Morehouse School of Medicine in 2023 and later completed Butler University's Bridge Program, where I earned my Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) degree. I also work in urgent care, which has given me the opportunity to care for patients with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries.
I'm a Georgia native with proud Guyanese roots, and I love building relationships with families from all backgrounds. One of my biggest goals is to make every child feel safe, comfortable, and heard from the moment they walk into the exam room. I know that going to the doctor can sometimes feel scary, so I do my best to turn each visit into a positive experience.
The best part of my job isn't making a diagnosis or prescribing a treatment, it's when a child gives me a hug or says, "I want to be like you when I grow up." Those moments absolutely melt my heart and remind me why I chose pediatrics. They inspire me to show up every day with compassion, patience, and a smile.
When I'm not caring for patients, you'll most likely find me cheering on my daughter at one of her sporting events or planning our next adventure together. I love exploring the world with my little one and making memories along the way.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue growing my nonprofit organization and writing children's books that educate, encourage, and empower young readers. My goal is to make a positive impact both inside and outside the exam room.
