Lauren Mason is a pediatric nurse practitioner and pediatric primary care mental health specialist providing telehealth services for ABC Pediatric Group. She holds dual undergraduate degrees in psychology and nursing from Carson-Newman University. During her time there, she was a collegiate cheerleader and served as co-captain of the squad her senior year. As a student-athlete, she was recognized as an Eagle Scholar for academic excellence and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. Lauren earned her Master's degree in Pediatric Primary Care from Emory University, graduating from a top-ten-ranked program.
Lauren began her career training under Dr. Jacqueline Sulton, who also trained Dr. Blair and Dr. Cumberbatch-Peete. Lauren joined ABC Pediatric Group in December 2016 and provided in-office care for nearly a decade. In mid-2025, she transitioned exclusively to telehealth when she and her husband relocated to East Tennessee. He accepted a position as a research scientist in Lauren's hometown, allowing her the opportunity to move closer to her family, which she is thrilled about. She is proud to celebrate her 10-year anniversary with the practice this year!
Lauren didn't initially plan on a career in pediatrics. However, during a clinical rotation in nursing school, she discovered a profound passion for advocating for children - a vulnerable population that cannot always advocate for themselves. With her background in psychology, she realized that pediatrics offered the perfect opportunity to manage both the medical and mental health needs of her patients simultaneously.
In her practice, Lauren is a strong advocate for shared decision-making. She partners closely with families, ensuring that both parents feel heard, informed, and actively involved in developing the best care plan for their child.
Lauren's primary clinical focus is the management of ADHD. Her background in psychology led her to earn a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist (PMHS) certification through the PNCB. She is highly focused on supporting her patients' mental, behavioral, and developmental health, which includes caring for children with autism. Additionally, she has a strong clinical passion for managing pediatric asthma, allergies, and acne.
Lauren lives with her husband, David, and their two rescued kittens, Splash and Furrari. She is currently taking a break from fostering dogs because she has a track record of adopting every foster dog she brings home! A lifelong dog person who had only ever raised dogs, Lauren raised her newly adopted kittens the only way she knew how. As a result, they now act like dogs.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys crafting, specifically hand embroidery, quilting, and creating custom designs with her Cricut machine. She also enjoys catching a Tennessee Vols football game, listening to 2000s alternative rock, collecting beanie babies, and playing Mario Kart.
